On checking the primary chain case oil the previous owner has a very thin red oil in there.Dont want to top up with conventional oil.What type of oil is this red.

It is ATF type F ( for Ford) and works well. It is a recognised modification. REgards, Mark

Hi Jamesy ( how come you've got 2 listings the same ??? )............My guess is that it's an ATF ( Automatic transmission fluid )......but it could be any old thing.......Best bet is to drain and re-fill with an oil of your choosing........It's a small capacity so won't cost much, but at least you'll know what's in there...won't you ??..........Personally I use ATF in the front forks also as it copes very well with the high shearing forces that the damping valve imparts , but that's up to you..

Yes, great stuff for forks. Honda actually specifies in in some mdels. Certainly works for me.
