My C5 came with 2 years warranty in 2015. Either way it would have expired by now anyway, so I don’t understand your point.

Allan R was asking on a previous post if there was warranty on the bike of the originalquestion.I didn't think there was on a 2015 three year old bike.

JFAI, The Modern EFI range currently have a 2year warranty, first year is parts and labour, second year is for parts only.

I removed the casing this morning. I've seen pictures where many of the rollers are cracked but altho' I didn't spend ages looking at it Sherlock Holmes style, a quick shifty didn't reveal any more rollers ready to disintegrate. I don't know how tight the chain should be but it certainly wasn't "as tight as a drum". Hopefully I'll have a Renolds chain fitted quite soon and all will be well. BTW I was surprised to find that the casing didn't have a gasket, just some kind of sealer.

Please make sure the driving sprocket is correctly orientated even if that’s the opposite way to how you find it in order to avoid further trouble down the road.

As I said previously, there was no gasket behind the clutch cover/ lhs casing. Looking at Hitchcock's website I see such a gasket listed, p/n 570410. I'm now wondering if I should fit one of these or use some type of instant gasket. Has anyone else found no gasket fitted here?

I’m not sure if my C5 has one or not. Having decided to go ahead and fit a Reynolds as a safety precaution, I have ordered the gasket you mention anyway. I shall use grease on it so that it can be reused. I’ve also ordered the clutch locking tool. While no doubt you can remove the crank and clutch centre nuts by putting the gearbox in top and standing on the rear brake pedal I prefer to do it the easy way, especially as both nuts need torquing up. A few owners have reported finding loose clutch centre nuts...I’ve also ordered a gear lever shaft oil seal, just in case. IIRC Roger Slater sealed his primary drive using Blue Hylomar. I prefer a gasket. I can’t see that anything would be affected either way.

KC1961: I forgot to ask, when you removed the primary chaincase cover did much oil come out? I’ve not long chang d the oil in my C5 and at £40 for 4 litres I’d rather not have to change it again, preferring to wait until I’ve done more miles on the oil in the cases. Thanks. BTW I always add some of the oil through the chaincase plug when doing a change, figuring that there is a better chance of fresh oil getting in the chaincase that way. Can’t do any harm anyway as long as the total added is correct.
