The thing with that varnish is, it can be very tenaceous. Sometimes it's just easier to replace the jet/filter than to clean it (especially with Enfield parts prices). I've seen me "boil in the bag" them in acetone in an ultrasonic before (So hot water in the ultrasonic then seal the parts in a bag containing your solvent) You place the bag into the water and run it. Easier, cheaper and safer than putting solvent in the ultrasonic.
Carb cleaner spray is often not man enough to shift that kind of varnish stuff. Often times not much is, even with ultrasonics and strong solvents. What WILL reliably shift it is MEK but it's increasingly hard to get hold of in any quantity.
