I put some stainless clamp on stadium style mirrors on mine, using hitchcocks stainless stems. Much better than the originals in terms of less vibration and visibility...and no rust!

I was looking at the Hitchcocks mirror anti vibration mounts.

Putting weights on the stems will alter the fundamental frequency, rather like putting heavier strings on an instrument like a guitar or a piano. Adding a material like rubber to the system will dampen the vibrations, rather like muting a string with your hand or the felt of a piano damper; H's vibration mounts. So I was wondering if putting a rubber tube onto the stem would not dampen mirror vibration. I haven't actually tried this as the bar-end mirror provides an excellent view and looks proper on bikes of this period appearance.

Thanks for all your replies, tried the taping of lead to the mirrors but no joy, even filled the bars with silicone as this was supposed to deaden the vibes, still no joy. It's my birthday at the end of the month and my wife has ordered me a pair of bar end mirrors from here

will report back when fitted.

If the different mirrors don't work as well as expected try forcing some ball bearings into the silicon to add a bit more weight.

Steve T - those look like the Halcyon but stretched and smoothed, nice. The Halcyon (type) do not dance around like the martian antenna Minda stock ones. If you have forced silicone into the bars then you do not have the welded-in nut for the bar end weights, which do work. Harleys probably have worse bar vibration than a RE, and they have all kinds of weird solutions, lead shot, ball bearings; look up "bar snake" which appears to be a lead-loaded plastic rod you force through the bars.

Hi guys thanks for all your replies the mirrors my wife bought for my birthday have been fitted early (as you do) and I had a ride out today and they greatly reduced the vibrations, well pleased :-)) recommended!! Here's a photo br> also they ratchet so you can turn them to get through gateways etc and not lose your settings. Steve
