I suggest checking with local engine rebuilders or searching for specialist welders in your local area. I've had many castings repaired over the years and its bound to be cheaper than a replacement casing. Aluminium brazing is possible if you know someone with the skills but as previously mentioned TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)is the modern and best method. I can think of three or four places to get it done in Auckland for about $50 to $100 so if you are in Blighty it should be no problem. They will leave you with an ugly blob of weld that you will need to fettle and you'll need a long drill bit to drill out the hole from the other side.

Hi VESPA----------- I agree with SIMON re}--- local Engine builders/re-builders for possible TiG welding repairs..These days TiG is a common enough process in "the trade" as it were...Also Aluminium Brazing ( Gas welding using an Aluminium filler rod ) is possible and as SIMON rightly says, you need someone with the skills to do it.....The main problem for the operator is the melting point of the Aluminium Oxide is higher than the parent metal ---- which is why an inert gas ( Argon usually) is used to shield the welding process.....I'm retired now but not so long ago one of the TiG welders at the local MoD Engineering Workshops where I worked repaired some damage on a PENTA VOLVO marine piston ( outboard 3-cyl.engine ) by TiG welding...I then re-machined the piston ring lands and all was well again.............
