I'm as puzzled as you are. Mind you, It's more logical to switch the power to the solenoid than it is to the TCI unit. Why allow the engine to spin without a spark when you can just stop the engine spinning in the first place? I have to admit, it's how I'd design the electrics (once the engine is running, the solenoid is redundant, so switch it out of circuit). I've no idea if this Electa X was wired this way by Enfield themselves, or it was a mod by a previous owner. How many other Electa X owners have oddball electrics?
