Well, the bike has gone to the doctors for diagnosis and repair. I had a call from the dealer yesterday and they say the plug is the wrong sort.
Given that the trouble originally started with the plug that the bike came with, and the fact that the plug in use is advertised in our host's catalogue as suitable for all efi, I don't think that's the real issue.
They replaced the plug with the original twin electrode and took it for a brief run and said it ran fine (which it was doing for very short runs) but that the revs started to fall away when the bike was stopped at traffic lights. That is exactly what was happening when the trouble started.
So, I'm thinking 02 sensor malfunction maybe? Anyway they are going to take it for a longer run when it stops snowing and follow it with a recovery vehicle just in case.
Watch this space.
