MadMike,

I did not have the bike Dyno tested. Also please note I'm talking kmph not mph? The engine does seem run a bit faster than quoted figures at 5600 - 5700, but that is how it came from the factory. I can comfortably pull to 120 kmph before changing to 5th gear.

Mark M,

At high speed the front fork starts wobbling at any unevenness in the road surface. I have to mention that in South Africa the bikes are fitted with Indian tires and not the Avlon ones. So now and then – mostly under acceleration - it also feels if the back arm pulls one side; very uncomfortable for the pillion. I checked all nuts and bolts and they all thight as it should be. I further suspect the disc brake to be out of alignment as breaking is aggravates the wobble (I will check on this over the weekend). On top of this the front fork feels spongy and too soft - it tends to dive a bit too much under breaking.

Your thoughts.....

Thanks

Roeland

Yes I know you are talking KPH, and as I said originally your figure equates to a tad over 91 full size imperial miles per hour. Your increase of, shall we say, 15 KPH is an increase in speed of 11.54%. That is impressive indeed particularly without increasing capacity, cam profiles, compression ratio, gas flowing the head etc etc. Your mods may make it breathe better and thus pull cleanly and accelerate better but they will not massively increase power and thus the potential to increase speed. To improve speed by nearly 12% I would suggest that a massive power increase would be required. The mickey taker in me says you must have super tuned the speedometer. LOL.

Interesting that Ace Fireball have achieved 105mph on a bullet.......but it is oversized, had new head and the full treatment in the engine department. They claim to have had to increase the BHP at the rear wheel to achieve this result! Power increased by 100% to get about a 22% increase in speed. That sounds about right

Hi Roeland. It seems your on the right track with the power improvements and i dont see why the efi shouldnt reach 80-90mph for a short blast. However, as you've found this is worthless if the machine cannot be controlled safely at high speed. My advice would be to fit decent tyres, properly balanced for speed. (Avon AM 26)are good examples..... Check head bearings for correct movement and adjustment... check levels are equal with your choosen fluid type in front forks. ATF seems favourite with most folks on here. A fork brace might be a useful addition and swingarm/chainstay bushes are cheap and worth eliminating as a problem source.... But i think your biggest improvment could be made by swapping out the rear shocks, which at best are barely adequate with just the rider let alone a pillion and saddlebag... you may find one shock is knackered if compared on the bench. This would explain the weave under braking and front dive strangely enough....... Our hosts do a pair for the efi at £115 made by HAGONS a very reputable company. you could also ring Hagons quoting the bike make and model and give details like the combined weight of the rider and pillion and they will fit the correct springs for your application.I'm convinced this will make the enfield far more user friendly. Just a few ideas...... regards gwilly

Gwilly,

Thank you for the advice. I will defenitely look into this. In the mean while I also estabilshed that the front disk is indeed wobbled; you can even see it with the naked eye. Tomorrow at 11:00 the dealership will change this for me under garantee.

Does anybody know if these replacement disk are of better quality or can we expect the same to happen again?

Thanks

Roeland, Gwilly beat me to it, his advice is what I would suggest too! While the bike is at the Dealer get them to check the swinging arm bearings, these have been known to wear very quickly and will cause all manner of problems. Virtually any European tyre will be better than the Indian ones and the rear shocks as recommended by Gwilly are a quality replacement at a sensible price. Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Roeland, your heading states that your bike is a C5. If that is so it and you bought it brand new, it would have 18 inch wheels front and back and be susceptible to the weaving problems so many other riders have reported. If your bike has a 19 inch front and 18 inch rear it is definitely non-standard which may be connected with your problem.
