Hi all I am back again with another request for your feed back.
Went to start my 1965 350 bullet after it had been stood for a week
and it started second kick, initially a bit smokey but soon cleared and reved up ok and tick over was smooth.Stopped the engine went to get my helmet and gloves from the house returned to the bike tried to kick start it into life but no go,the guy next door to me was in a great deal of mirth as I tried in vain to bring life to my bullet but after ten minutes of trying no go,took the spark plug out and it was wet,so cleaned the plug and second kick away she went, could it be the mixture because when I start the bike from cold I use the choke but can push the choke in almost as soon as the bike has started and it runs with no problem,if this is the problem where can I adjust the mixture as there apears to be only one screw adjustment on the carb and this seems to be the throttle adjustment, any ideas please.

Hi TAPER, ---------------- More details required please eg. Carb type,( Probably an Amal Monoblock ?)-- recent running history, name & address of neighbour ( so we can send "The Boys" to have a "chat" with him !!!!!!!)--- maybe leaky float valve ? Float setting too high ? rich pilot mixture ?, air filter needs cleaning?,

Hi Alan sorry I forgot to inclued details, carb type is mikcarb ,I have cleaned the air filter and when running the bike performs ok,as for the neighbour I have sorted him by leaving a nice tyre track across his lawn!!!!(only kidding) but I will have my revenge when his car does not start in the winter.I think it may be the fuel mixture but can't seem to find the mixture screw.

Hi Taper - On the Mikcarb you will find the mixture screw near to the tickover adjuster screw. The mixture adjuster screw is the smaller one at an angle. The larger brass coloured one is the tickover adjuster. Cheers. Tony.

I would say a leaky float valve causing a too high fuel level as Alan R mentioned,I was told to turn the fuel tap off after stopping. Why start a bike and then stop it? I start mine and leave it on tickover until i put my lid on.

Hi everyone thanks for the advice and comments.
Riggers thanks for the update on Mikcarb I have located the mixture screw and adjusted as required,I intend to see how this affects the starting when hot and I will give an update ,Alan I will see how the bike performs before I check the float levels but thanks for the advice,Jaffa90 the reason that I started the bike and then stopped it was due to me having to leave the bike unattended while I went for my helmet and gloves and where I live it is not a good idea to leave a bike running and un attended
because the bike would be gone in sixty seconds with little chance of finding it.
