Hi all,
having just rebuilt my engine, i'm finding the plug gets sooty -pretty sure it's running rich rather than burnig oil. This is a surprise; 350 classic with a Goldie silencer and amal 26mm Mk 1 concentric sucking through a conical filter. I have dropped the needle to the top of the three grooves. Obviously i could tinker further with the jetting, but I might also try re-fittling a bellmouth and removing the baffle from the Goldie. Just thought I would ask for and wisdom here - like how much difference the baffle makes to noise and mixture. (I don't think the bellmouth vs. conical makes much difference).

Hello John,
On top of all the other problems I am having with my 500 Bullet I too had a sooty plug. It was caused by having a 200 jet as opposed to a 180 for the filter/exhaust combo I fitted. If your soot is dry and not wet or oily it will be a too rich fuel mixture.
regards,
Alan
