Well thought-out, neatly made and shiny! Having to go from small bore rocker feed pipe to the 3/8" O/D hose stubs on the filter base doesn't appear to have been too traumatic. br>

I just wish our host's PRV tappet cover could be a little less chunky.

Hi Steve, a very neat and professional installation, but I wonder if the filter is really doing that much?...I notice you have Samrat Rockers and the Oil pressure relief valve. The two mods are really making the oil supply flow through the filter very minimal which is OK if you just want the tiny amount of oil throughput to the rockers filtered. If you have unmodified Samrat rockers...that are undrilled with O rings in place....they will raise the return pressure considerably and lift the oil pressure relief valve off its seat more than by using standard rockers and divert the vast majority of oil back into the timing chest. The original cast iron rockers pass a greater amount of oil but the Samrats have O ring seals so will bump the pressure up. This perfectly OK of course.....the relief valve on the old engine was designed to pass the majority of oil into the timing chest and just allow enough pressure to gently lube the top end, same as most British bikes, but if you want to filter the oil you need the filter BEFORE the relief valve so the entire amount of return oil (moved by the scavenge pump) will be filtered and the pressure of this oil can then be regulated by the relief valve and makes the Samrat flow restriction unimportant....As it is, you are certainly getting a clean oil flow to the rockers but any dirt in the oil could take ages before it takes the route up to your filter and in theory may never get picked up as the filter is only seeing a tiny percentage of the full amount of oil flow and it's not guaranteed that it will ever get filtered, as it could go via the relief valve route every time....Les

I just wanted to clarify a tech point that I mentioned on my post above as regards the Samrat rockers...it's been a long time since I handled one....I was thinking or remembering wrongly that the O rings were on each end of the rocker shaft...of course this is not so, they are simply on the feed hole to the rocker block so wont affect pressure . The Samrats plain shaft though is a very nice tight fit and minimises oil loss through them however....

Hi has anybody found a source of the tee pieces. I fancy having a go at making up the rocker feed pipes in copper. I have tried eBay but no joy, tried pirtek drew a blank there as well. Cheers Pete.

Hello Steve,
Excuse me the question :is your external filter there to filter just the oil lubricating the rockers, or all the engine oil ?
