Yes I can quite see why you'd want to keep the heel part given that injury, NHN. I found that the linkage clouted the underside of the footrest if I tried moving the lever on the spline but reading the US Hitchcocks forum it's clear that not all linkages are alike. The reason I removed the heel part was because after a few weeks riding I realised that for me, I was never going to use it. (never say never ).
May we expect to see some pics of your island rides? I hope so.
In an earlier posting I mentioned that I was considering one of those little movie cameras to record my rides. Ordered yesterday and has just arrived!!

But back to the gear change for Cammy Cameron : with the lever aligned on the spline as delivered and a hole at 20mm centre from the original, this is how the two boots I wear sit under the toe part. I don't wear both of them at the same time, of course. That would be silly 😳

Lanes Explorer is very conscious that this is all a bit "look at me" but I hope any of you reading this will forgive my somewhat excitable nature . Any road... As Stuart Fillingham says - 'I'm new to this lark' and I've just been fiddle faddling with my little video camera. Arrived yesterday and discovered it needed a micro SD card and that came today. Very easy (even for me) to set it up. Waterproof case for heavy rain and deep water splashes! I've mounted it onto the bars as you see although I believe others would choose to wear it somewhere? This is the Apexcam actioncam M80 air and I'm not expecting much in the way of optical quality but it's a reasonable place to begin, I think. A couple of snaps for you.

The quality may surprise you, I've had a couple of the Chinese SJcams, the usb ports are a bit weak on them where they are soldered to the motherboard though and come loose after a year or so. I'll be looking for another cam when I get my Himmy, I wear mine on a chest harness though, not on the bike. I also made a hole in the waterpoof case so I can run the cam from a powerbank in my pocket, as I've had the batteries run out on me and not noticed.
Looks like you have adjustable angle of view, I personally would not use the 170 degrees on the bike - too wide. You'll probably get distortion and blocky video.
I'd be interested to see some footage from it, but youtube has degraded any that I have uploaded in the past and the quality on my laptop, from the card, is far better than the youtube offering.
https://mega.io/ is a free cloud service where you can upload files and share them.

Many thanks for sharing that. Just returned from a ride, setting off in half light, so I'll have a look at the video, that's if I actually recorded anything 😂.

Thank you, Frank for the utube video - magnificent bit of countryside! Haven't ventured quite so far south from here yet - but I certainly will. That's exactly the sort of filming quality I'm hoping for. You mentioned blocking, the one I took this morning was very degraded as I had the camera set on the default of 4k and 30 fps. Since then I've been trying different settings and next ride will be at 720 P and 60fps.
Battery life is fairly short although I got an hour this morning before it went flat and I do have the USB charging port on the Meteor so can charge as I go! File sizes are huge though so I'm really hoping that 720 p(ixels?) will improve matters. What do you normally set yours at? Image quality on this model at 720 seems very good, viewed on my 10inch tablet.

That one was 1080p @ 30 fps if that is any help, the highest the M10 will do.
