When the RE workshop manual is available from a reliable source it looks like being a lovely thing, to judge by the couple of screenshots I've seen. These are the two I've managed to download from a posting on the US forum. In the meantime, Happy Riding!

Yay, she's here! Had my first ride this afternoon, only 35 miles as rain threatened and I just can't allow a 1 hour old bike to get wet! Very impressed with the torque, pulls from nothing, gears are a bit close, best just to get up to 4th as quick as you can, and 5th when past 30. Lovely handling, nice sound great (yellow) looks - really happy with this little bike, such a change from our other rides.

A few loose odds and ends (PDI? Pah) but the tail/numberplate arrangement is obviously a UK market add-on and will be going for a tail tidy to get the plate and indicators up under the tail lamp. The gear linkage it a bit pants too, trying to adjust it I need a position between two splines, so a new link with proper rose joints will be sourced. Or made. Maybe out hosts could look at this?

But all in all, an absolute bargain.

Pleased to hear your Yellow Fireball has finally arrived. Until you have a linkage more to your taste you can obtain an alternative pedal position by drilling a 6mm hole a 'suitable' distance back from the existing one (I have settled on 20mm centres). That lifts up the toe part without the linkage clashing with the underside of the footrest. I've also added washers to the existing ones to take up side play.
Let's hope for brighter weather - you certainly don't want to get that bike wet.. just yet!

Come now LanesExplorer, can you not provide us with a few photos of modified gear change linkage........... please ?

Excellent LanesExplorer, thank you so much for that and you've obviously go rid of the heel part of the lever as you wanted to have a conventional gear lever...sorted. When I get round to getting my bike I'm gonna give it a go with what's fitted, but may well go down the route you've taken.

My pleasure, Cammy Cameron. You'll notice also that there are two vacant holes in the lever. The first one is the original, next to it my first attempt at 10mm centres from that, which wasn't quite sufficient to lift the pedal.

Ah, that's a sensible way to do it!

I still need the heel part, as it is one of the reasons I bought the bike - my left foot is trashed (Google 'Lisfranc fracture', it was gory and is full of metalwork ) from a walking injury so I find it painful to lift a gear lever. Or walk much, but that's another story! I am getting used to it moved one spline up, so may just leave it for a while.

Off for a trundle for a breakfast run 'with the boys' this morning - the old farts bike club.
