Could you tell me how the alloy bottom section fits onto the chromed steel slider tube please, one of the legs on my forks is weeping oil from around the joint. I didn't want to try "unscrewing it" if it was not fastened in that way.

Hi, it screws on, they're prone to coming loose, hence the change to all steel sliders. Vince. Ps try taking it apart and use gasket goo on thread.
