Hi I have a 1959 Bullet and I have found recently that the oil in the clutch casing is finding it,s way up the alternator wires and leaking into my tool box what can I do to fix this

I had a quick look at the online parts book but there doesn't seem to be a grommet shown for the alternator leads, is there one from an Indian 350 Bullet that will fit your primary chain case? I shall have a look at my '61 Bullet chain case and see if I can think of anything.

You could fit one of the Newby belt drive kits of course, though this does seem a rather expensive option!

It's a design feature to prevent the inside of your toolbox rusting?

Sounds like it needs another way to breathe, rather than up the wiring. Does it not have a breather pipe already?

If it was my bike, it soon would have one.

Could the problem be caused by crankcase pressure blowing into the primary case? Is your crankcase breather working correctly?

Not just pressure blowing past the l/h crankcase seal, but oil too? Hopefully not, but on the Redditch Bullets of that era the oil seal (actually washers and a disc of felt) has to replaced from the INSIDE of the l/h crankcase if it fails, which means an engine strip. My '61 Bullet's engine is away having the l/h crankcase modified for a more modern garter seal which can be replaced from the outside, though it's also having a few other jobs done.
