I’m not familiar with the make of your ignition system but looking at the diagrams, the first shows that the initial setting is at the fully retarded position. That allows advance to the limit of the length of the adjustment slots, whatever that figure is, I.e. any movement is further advanced from TDC.

The distributor on a Bullet spins in the opposite direction to the engine, ie clockwise. So, to advance the ignition timing you need to move the back plate anticlockwise, as in fig 1 in your picture on the last page. To retard it, move the back plate clockwise, as in fig 2.

Oops....I wrongly assumed this ignition system sat on the end of the crankshaft.

Kindly ignore anything I said after “Good evening!”

Thank Paul. Wheaters, you’ll be hearing from my solicitor ;)

Just looked at the instructions on our host’s site, to confirm. Once again Paul you are elevated to a god like status

If it’s anything like the bean can on Airheads, it’ll be a fraction of a move. As the instructions say, any movement is doubled at the crank.

My only defence, Your Honour, is that proper modern bikes, like my old iron 350, designed in the 1950s, have proper electronic ignition on the left side end of the crankshaft and therefore my advice was totally sound, if I were to be giving it to myself. :geek:

Meanwhile.....back on the ranch; I have to take my missus to have her Covid jab.
