Hi Folk, I have just stripped the engine from my 2006 Electra X due to a big end failure and intend to replace the main bearings as well, upon checking the specifications in my manual I have noted that it gives a C4 clearance roller bearing for the drive side and a standard clearance for the timing side roller, both roller bearings I removed were standard clearance. Anybody out there got any idea where i should go with this assuming the engine has never been stripped they must have been what the factory put in.
Also has anybody got any idea what sort of oil temp the lean burn engine runs at.

Many Thanks in advance

A few years back knowing a trusted mechanic was about to retire (and after reading too much horror stories) I decided to having to fit our Host's big end and connecting rod set to my 40,000 km's ElectraX (2005). Couldn't find a C4 tolerance bearing anywhere. Asked the mechanic would that be a problem, "no difference whatsoever", he answered. That was 35, 000 km's ago so I'm starting to believe him.
They do run hot, I dare say.

How hot the lean burn engine runs depends on how much of the lean burn kit is still fitted, many of the surviving Electra-Xs have aftermarket carbs which aren't jetted so lean and exhausts which are less restrictive, not just in the silencer but also in the downpipe.

Thanks for the info gents, I have done a bit of research and a few phone calls and have been told not to worry about the C4 bearing, gonna use a C3 so everything should fine with that. Happy riding and roll on summer.......
