Deformed bodies are common if you overtighten the flange.

Maybe get a vernier on it and check the hole for ovality.

Or put blue on the new slide and see if it's only rubbing front and back. (or scribble on it with a felt tip if you have no blue).

probably worth checking the new slide for roundness while you're at it.

Thanks for that, back in the house now. No need for the blue, you can now see the scores on the new slide.

I guess if the body is deformed, there is no harm in me working on the slide to make it match the body; nothing lost.

Body didn’t appear deformed when I checked with vernier caliper.
I then proceeded to Solvol the slide.
All good now, but did notice if I grip the body a certain way before I finished the slide, it did affect the slip.

Now decided that Amal carbs are not an alloy, but pure lead... :roll:
