Hi, there is a hollow dowel surrounding the bottom rear bolt. Vince
Just checked my stripdown pictures of the three iron barrel indian enfield engines I've rebuilt. While there is certainly a recess there that looks like it should take a dowel, none of them had one. With two of them I'm certain I was the first person to strip it. The third one I definately wasn't.

Thanks for all the info!
In the meanwhile a maybe worrying question arises..
Today i delivered the cylinder to a workshop, and was confirmed that the barrel is 'just worn out'

But.. i had the impression this bike has very low mileage when i look at the bolts/nuts which you have to unlock for maintanance and.. the india-dunlop tyres looked as new.
Theory 1; The bike has low mileage and cylinder wall is very soft/badly hardened.

But.. this inland version(single leading front brake, 17T gearbox sprocket, iron layshaft bushes, 35W headlight)was owed by someone who did serious effort to make it look 'real'/ fifties ('royal'sticker on the tank, green paintjob (papers say original it was grey) smith's odometer and A-meter, solo saddle, BSA-type handlebar, old style switches, amal , old style fenders and more 'vintage details.

To keep the appearance up, he decided to mount india-dunlop tyres for the looks?

In that case, the bike has bigger mileage.. The smith's odometer says 1068km. What has it done before?

Anyone an idea where to look for an estimation?
Honestly, a more serious mileage with that single leading front brake -which had no stopping power at all- would be quite a challenge, especial in Dutch traffic..
