Been there, done that on numerous occasions due to my habit of killing the engine with the decompressor but then forgetting to turn the ignition off.

A top tip is if it's got so low the battery charger won't start charging the battery, if you hook it up then briefly "jump" it with a charged battery, it will start. There is also a chance it's hopelessly suplhated and will just start gassing but I find they usually recover well enough to continue working on a bike with no electric start.

I always take the bike ignition key indoors. Seeing as I’m not allowed the bike in the house, the two are separated overnight.

I once turned on the interior light in the Mazda, during the day in the carport to locate the peg which secures the driver`s -side floor mat, forgot to turn off the light and locked the car. SWMBO once didn`t close the door properly on our `62 VW Beetle, leaving the interior light on, another flat battery next morning.
There might be a club for people like us?

Leon will the club include not only those who run out of electric but also those who run out of fuel?

Among a few times that's happened on two occasions I ran out of petrol exactly opposite filling stations.
Once during the fuel crisis when filling stations would only allow regular customers to buy petrol.
After pleading that I was stranded with a 30 miles journey in front of me the kind man relented - and let me have enough petrol to get me home.
I've never forgotten how fortunate I was on that occasion.

There have been other occasions when I've found folk to be really helpful and willing to put themselves out to help.
Thanks to them all!!

Will there also be a club for those who put diesel in their Bullet ?
Back to the battery, it is fully charged and has held up these past 2 or 3 days, now back on bike.

I once ran out of petrol on the BSA A10, I walked across the road to a corner store and bought a bottle of Shellite to get me home. Also tried to fill the Bullet with Diesel, but the operator wouldn`t turn on the pump till I woke up.

How about the good old leaving the side stand down. Glad to say that I can count that on the fingers of one hand.... just!
One of those things I suspect you only do once. (I did it myself two weeks ago.)

If we’re talking about the stupid things we did how about riding all day long all over the wild and abandoned hills and vales of Mid-Wales on a 50cc Suzuki without a mobile phone, no credit cards, no satnav and no real idea where we were going – as we all did many years ago!! :o
