Hi guys - I seek your advice please. When I acquired my 1951 G2 it ws fitted with a 1” Monobloc. That’s the right size so it does (did) run, but it should have an Amal 276. In my jumble stock, I don't have a 276 but I do have an even older Amal 76 of the correct size. I know one difference between the 76 and the 276 is the main jet air mixing ports and that there’s a “different” pilot jet air inlet. But is there any other difference between the 76 and the 276 that would disallow the use of the 76?

PS: blasting with soda bicarb does indeed clean carbs gently!

The correct carb for the 1951 350 Bullet was the 1 " long neck 276 with bottom feed float bowl, settings were main - 140, Needle .106, Slide 4.0. if that helps.

If you are going to run an incorrect for model year carb in any case, I would stick with the Monobloc, if it worked before.

Thanks, Rushour and BW. I do indeed plan to make it work with the Monobloc as that is complete. Meanwhile I am slowly taking the 76 apart – very dirty and gummed up – lots of heat and gentle persuasion (unlike the Indian Bullet Mikcarb which seemed to relished its BF&I!).
