Hi Adrian,

Can you suggest a suitable NRV.
My 350 has been modded with just the pipe leaving the top of the oil tank to the back of the bike.
For the sake of fitting in with all recommendations on the site, I thought I’d fit one.

Thanks.

If you open up the old breather position I dont think the oil tank one is needed. That one tends to blow water vapour into the oil tank which can't be good.
I'd block off the hole from the crankcase to the oil tank all altogether. It's something I was going to do if the cases ever came apart.

Pete,

there was certainly a breather hole between the crankcase proper and the oil tank on Redditch Bullets, though unlike the Electra-X models they have vented oil filler caps. Here's Bullet Whisperer's photo of the Redditch crankcase to oil tank breather hole, the Electra-X one is in a slightly different position

John,

I prefer this sort of valve, it will need a couple of ¼" BSP hose tails the right size for whatever breather hose you're using, 10mm or ⅜" would probably do.

If you can't find one or our hosts don't have them, try Henry Price who has something suitable.

Well, drilling done (carefully!!) and you can see how it makes sense to breath out crankcase pressure at the new point, plenty of room for pressure to get out around the outside of the liner , nearly there!

John,

16 Bar? Sounds a lot! I hope that IS the return pressure it's good for, since it will be venting to atmospheric pressure

On both examples of the ¼" BSP valves that I have bought the spring is quite a light one, which is what you need. You can always check by blowing through the valve yourself, if it needs silly amounts of pressure to vent it's not the one you want. I did buy another smart-looking black valve with hose tails already fitted a while ago but with a much stronger spring, I shall need to replace that with a lighter spring before I can use it.

Allan,

you might want to check the outside diameter (I use the word loosely) of your successfully drilled stub, from experience 12mm hose might be a better fit than 10mm on that side. As they're just cast they won't be perfectly round, but you want the best fit possible, with a nice stainless clip to finish it off.
