So something like this with a suitable NRV and then extended to a suitable venting point, simple and looks tidy!!

Yes, pretty much. I cut the 90° hose off short over the join between the back of the oil tank and the front of the gear box to fit the NRV there and have a longer hose from the NRV to the back of the bike. Then it is just a question of fitting the longer hose with a gentle downhill run with nowhere for the gloop to gather. You can experiment and see what works best.

Thanks Adrian, also good that the primary and timing breather stubs were a tapping drill size (ish) so plugged with socket head screws and can be taken out again if ever needed! :-)

Just need to put it all back together now!!!

So, If I drilled the stub out would it be best to join the new pipe via a tee piece with the oil tank one and vent via a single pipe to the back of bike /chain etc ? If opening this up do you still need to breathe through the drilled hole and oil tank? But thinking about it oil tanks do need to breathe (BSA/Triumph etc) or you could create a vacuum (particularly when integral like an Enfield) if there was no breather?

So would the crankcase breather opened up work in harmony with the oil tank breather? Sounds reasonable to me as both venting the same thing after all and maybe a little more efficiently.

Right need to sharpen a drill bit! :-)

The inside of your l/h crankcase should look like this one, you can see where to drill below the middle cylinder stud to meet up with the hole you're drilling in through the stub. A good eye and a steady hand are essential!

What I would do if you're keeping the air filter box is run a hose via a non-return valve from the top of the oil tank to the breather connection to the box, (no dips or sharp kinks in the hose, remember!) while running another hose from your newly opened-up breather stub on the l/h side via a second non-return valve to the back of the bike.

If you find that your breather chucks out too much oil with this set-up you could add in one of our hosts breather modification kits once the l/h stub has been drilled.

Don't make it too complicated!

Thanks again, yes retaining the airbox would make sense for now as not planning on a carb upgrade just yet and have a new filter and rubber 'bellow' for it in my parts box.

I was removing it originally to make room to move the catch can ( as very tight on the Electra X) but that problem is resolved and in the parts box!!! :-)
