I think you have to know exactly how the figures have been calculated, what's been included and what's been left out. This is important to so many people for all sorts of reasons. If the figures come from an "interested party", or a think-tank funded by an interested party, they are probably wrong, or at least severely distorted.

What are the criteria for gaining the dignity of the title 'expert'?
How expert does one have to be to be an 'expert'.

Seems like a lazy way of saying: 'We've [whoever 'we' are] decided you mustn't contradict what this person is going to tell you. You MUST believe them'.

Just been looking at the previous MOT paperwork for my 20 year old Suzuki Swift (new test booked for tomorrow).

Last year the emissions test showed that it was producing less than 1/10 of the CO and HC relevant emissions limits. It also does 50 mpg or more; on unleaded fuel, as good as many new cars. Because I've never replaced it with a new, resource hungry electric car (and see no need to unless it fails tomorrow on a terminal basis), who in truth is the most "carbon friendly" person - me or a Tesla driver who changes his car every three years?

Changing a large electric car every three years will leave it in a permanent CO2 deficit compared to the 'average family' petrol car.
Or so the information seems to suggest - if it is to be believed - and the (unsubstantiated? and heavily biased?) claims of the electric lobby are not believed.

Seems more and more like 'my truth', 'your truth' - and both are equally true!
That is to say neither is true.
All that will decide the case is the irresistible clout of vested interests.

I remember reading years ago that a professional is someone who earns at least 51% of their income in their chosen field.

So they may earn 51% and be classified 'Professional'.....

Adrian, you sounded unsure about 'non-experts' I'm quite new to this forum, but I'd probably ask you more questions about my Bullet than a local bike garage, as you've helped before.

Does that make me wrong? You wrong? That was a rhetorical question.

I get that Adrian. And I guess you’re right.

Thing is we are fed this avalanche of misinformation. And we don't get to hear it challenged or questioned. It’s fast becoming a test of good citizenship that we accept that electric is the answer to the world’s woes and if we can get rid of plastic packaging the world’s problems will be solved. Question that and you’re on the way to being regarded as a public enemy.

What’s this got to do with motorcycling and motorcycles? Especially what’s this got to do with Royal Enfield? Only that maybe this is the least environmentally damaging of all forms of self-propelled transport.
