Congrats, I am guessing that is low mileage and it has a couple of sensible mods already with the exhaust and k+n. Ride it as intended and you might be surprised at its reliability. If you intend to commute though (as I do) I wouldn't recommend riding through the winter. Mine is looking very much worse for wear for it. Apart from that just enjoy it, they are so much fun.

I'm a strictly fair weather rider, my wet and cold weather gear is a CAR. My commute is roughly 12 miles each way, it is a nice ride in South Devon, but the roads do clog up with holiday traffic, I can save 1/2 an hour on an afternoon getting home by using a motorcycle.
I think a bike should evolve over time to meet my requirements, so it will be altered a bit, watch this space.
I do like a bit of valeting when I'm in the mood, I find it therapeutic, I will try and keep up with it, and try to improve the finish wherever I can.

You mention heavy traffic. Be aware that the clutch will overheat very quickly if held in while stationary.
Make a habit of getting it into neutral if you are stopped.

Our hosts' Woodsman exhausts are available with a baffle type silencer. though if you want to fit the Indian short bottle type I gather that their Woodsman pipe doesn't have the swaged 1.75" silencer end welded on, it's 1.5" as per the main pipe bend, so that will need the 350 Bullet short bottle silencer rather that a 500.

You can buy heat shields for the pipe itself, for the silencer you might be able to or have to adapt an EFI Bullet silencer heat shield. Please con't use pipe wrap!

As far as electronic ignition is concerned, don't buy a Mk3 Boyer, I think our hosts now sell the Mk4, or you could do a lot worse than getting a Pazon.

All good stuff, Good tip about the clutch, all filed away, Good info on exhaust, thanks.
I'll get the MOT done asap, bimble about a bit, fix anything that falls off or leaks, Then make it mine.
If the weather is as good as is forecast this coming weekend, I'll get my valeting head on, and see what I can make it look like, and examine it carefully before any final decisions on any alterations are made.
I like the general look of this bike, so I don't think I'll need to do too much, ( famous last words), we'll have to see.
I'll take pictures as it progresses.

One tip I can give you is turn the fuel tap to the off position if leaving the bike for any length of time.over a one year period I opened up my garage twice to find a petrol flooded floor. Now there will be people here who will shout sticking float, faulty carb etc. But I never could find the cause. It never happened again with tap turned off.

Was it someone on here who complained about leaking float valves to Bing and got a reply along the lines of "We manufacture carburettors, not fuel taps."?

Well, The bike arrived in the early hours of Thursday morning, (don't ask). I haven't really had chance to look at it yet. apart from putting it away. During this quick glance over, looking for damage before accepting from the courier, I noticed that there is no ignition switch, just a toggle switch, the fibreglass battery box has seen better days, the headlight switch is loose, and the rear lamp unit is loose.
But apart from that, it looks to be in good condition, the chrome is sparkly, the alloy is a bit dull.
This weekend is earmarked for a, 'see if it runs ok', followed by a massive valeting session, and a list made out of parts required. at the same time a pre-MOT exam.
Hopefully this will all pan out ok, then I can get it tested sometime during next week, fingers crossed!
I'll take some pictures as well.
