Continuing the thread about my new Himalayan anyone else found that when they fitted the Barkbuster hand guards the only place for clamp is the cable holder? Both sides?

Correct pull them out throw them away for what they are worth. Fit the hand guards and tidy the cables and route and secure with cable ties. The hand guard bushes cover the holes in the bars and seal them better than those awful plastic clips.

I'll swap it for a slow, heavy knocking any day!

Apparently it is a known noise, probably tappets. Enfield recommend that that the tappets be checked at first service 500 miles. (Actually I would have thought they would have been checked as standard?)
I can sleep tonight now ;)

... also some engines have suffered from a loose valve guide. All fixable under two year warranty. It is still a brilliant bike.

I agree, for the money it's an unbelievable bike.
Even better now I've found a permanent fix for the compass - stuck a black self-adhesive spot over it so can't see it anymore!

Good fix lol.
My bike felt 10 times better after the first service especially valve noise.
Mind you fitting an aftermarket silencer gives you nicer noises to listen too.
I definitely recommend the air deletion kit sold by out hosts that works really well.
