Has anyone here ever removed the neutral switch from the back of the gearbox on a 2006 500 Electra X?
If so how please. (There is not enough room to unscrew it.) Cheers

I had a quick look at the switch on my recently-acquired '56 plate Electra, it does seem a pain to get to. Is it sticking on or off? Have any Sixty-5 owners managed to access it on their bikes?

I think you should be able to test it in position with a multimeter, it is only a single wire switch. If it is faulty, then you have the job to get it out.

Papasmurf, I can't remember because I have never had to remove one, I'm figuring you might have to make up a flat sort of spanner to get it undone then if you can't remove it try pushing it in and out and it may free up. It shouldn't get stuck because it is awash in there with oil. Worth a try

Still worth testing with a multimeter juts to prove the switch is the problem, be a pain to get the switch out to find it is a wiring problem

Norm is is not easy to carry out a multimeter test as that involves a lot of dismantling just to get at the connector. A new switch is less than £5.
(At the other end is the "rats nest" in the headlight cowl.)
