Hello to all. I am in the middle of 1951 J2 restoration, My inlet cam is in bad shape and our hosts or other vendors don't have on available. Does any one here have one that they can part with. the part number is 33870. any type of help would be appreciated.

Hi Jassie, I don't know for certain, but it is highly likely that cams from one of the other models of that era should fit - eg - CO Model G, pre '55 350 Bullet etc. If you are careful with the timing, an exhaust cam will probably go in and might even liven things up a bit! Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul i am not sure either if others will fit but this cam has a L marked on it or it could be 7 depending on how you look at it. but i will check to see the profile differences of the exhaust cam. Jessie

I had my Meteor Minor cams Reprofiled at David Newman

If they cannot reprfile your cam they might be able to make a new one worth giving them a call
The cost to do my cams was very reasonable

Chris that is my last resort. I am in Canada and last time I talked to my local cam guy he had mentioned that they need to know the profile to fix the cams and mine is badly worn at the tip. Jessie.

Are these cams the same profile as the later "S" cam but with an outer boss on the cam gear side sticking out about an â…›" of an inch from the surface of the gear? If someone can confirm that, I might have something suitable, purchased in error while hunting "S" cams.

Have you asked Hitchcock's if they have a used inlet cam? Quite often if they do not have something available new, they have a suitable second hand part not listed online.

Adrian you may be right about the profile. I compared to my S Cams and the profile looks identical . I don't know how to post pictures here but if you send me your email can send you pictures. the outer side of the L cam have a 5/16 or so deep groove and about 7/16 in width. while the S cam is plain. the S cam belong to my Fury so i cant use that. My email is [email protected] if you don't mind send me a quick email i will forward pictures.

I shall have a dig around in the "unallocated spares" box, if(!) I can find the cam I'm thinking of, there will be a picture on its way to you.
