Hi guys

I have a Hitchcocks breather kit fitted to my 2004 iron barrel bullet, with the traditional crank case vent under the left hand side of the cylinder block.

I have a question, with the engine at idel should the duckbill breather quack? Or atleast pulsate or move?

Should it quack when revved?

Best Regards

I have one of these on my bike - to be honest I dont think it pulses or even quacks, I think the end just opens apart enough to let the engine breathe. One thing - make sure that the pipe from the crankcase and the pipe from breather to duckbil is not in any way restricted / kinked.

The original end breather pipe was long and flattened. I believe these could quack so it was recommended in the fitting instructions that the flat section was trimmed back to 1/4" (6mm) to avoid this. The ones I've used are all cut back and I've had no noises. Well, no quacking from the pipe, the rider is another story!

I don't bother with the duckbill. Try a non-return valve in the pipe between the left-hand crankcase and the inlet to the breather tower/oil filler neck extension, and run a plain pipe from the outlet to wherever you have the duck bill at the moment.

Well, my standard 350 bullet when fitted with a standard duckbill will put out between 1.5 and 2 litres/min of gas from the crankcase breather at a fast idle. If you stuck the end fo the duckbill in a glass of water, I'd expect to see bubbles... Unless the hitchcocks kit is venting the gas elsewhere?
