Can I remove the stem lock nut without removing or loosening anything else? there’s rust I want to clean up in that area. Thanks!

Papasmurf, according to Stogierob's post of 12th December, it's a 350 from 1977. If the fork legs are fully screwed into the headlamp casquette, the bottom yoke clamp bolts are tight and the steering stem lock screw inside the casquette isn't disturbed, the stem nut can be removed.

papasmurf - i should remember to post that info with my tech questions. Still learning this stuff. I naively figured that the stem locking nut on all casquettes, regardless of model, would be the same
Adrian - thanks for identifying my bike. Everything else on the front of the bike, sans the front wheel at the moment, is tight. I’m waiting for some paint to arrive so i can finish painting the front rim. Once that’s in, i’ll move on to the casquette and removing the rust that’s around the stem lock nut.
Thanks!

The casquette is an alumin(i)um casting, so while corrosion could well have got under whatever paint/powder coating was on there, at least it's not rust!
