Amazing isn’t it instead of being admired for continuing to ride for as long as we can we are called moaning old duffers and told to move along. Time for a law to protect the elderly!

Hey Valsp, we all love the old duffers that keep riding, i am pretty much one myself. I just feel that all the people who are keen to offer their negative opinion of anything new should be prepared to get an opinion that may be contrary to their own. Who can blame RE for trying to catch a new type of buyer who's tastes may not match our own.

I don't regard myself as an old duffer, but I know when something doesn't appeal to me and this lash up is one such. If R.E. want to go bust, then putting this kind of thing into production would be a big help to them. The trouble is that when pictures and write ups of things like this get posted on forums and FB etc, most people who respond or comment are polite and positive, but I would put money on there being a 'silent majority' who are not commenting, but the upshot is the original poster, manufacturer or whoever, mistakenly believes that the creation they are showing off is popular and almost universally loved. There is no need for a tribute to the KX to be a bobber, but some obviously think that is what every man [and woman] and their dog want at the moment. The new twins I could just about live with, although I prefer the old originals, but I doubt anything looking like that so-called KX would sell any more than a handful or two, if that, so take it back to the drawing board and try again, although it has certainly stirred things up a bit by putting it 'out there', I will give R.E. that.

If Royal Enfield want to prosper they need to look ahead not behind. The only reason that motorcycles are as popular in Asia as they are is because they are cheap. As happened in the UK as people get more prosperous they want to own a car not a motorcycle. Sadly the internal combustion engine will soon be a thing of the past, even Harley have an electric motorcycle coming next year and they are probably the most conservative of makers due to the market they are in. Going electric gives a designer the chance to be completely different as they are not restricted by chain or shaft drive, fuel tanks, exhausts etc. Fan boy wants them to reach out to young people and women and surely this is the way to go. Royal Enfield need to be at the forefront of the sea change that is happening and show flair and innovation if they are to succeed

Valsp, I've spent quite a lot of time in Bangladesh and India over the last decade. One of the changes that's really surprised me in recent years is just how many electric scooters and bikes you see (but barely hear) gliding almost silently down the back streets. I've seen way more electric 2-wheelers in South Asia, whereas I'm not sure I've even seen one in my home city in the UK.
