Looks like it's just you and me Enfield trials ;-) I think it's quite an interesting modern take on a 30's bike. It's only a lash up after all and I'm sure if it ever comes to fruition it will be less radicle.

I quite like it. I think the 30's bikes had a real panache. I don't think the concept bike quite does it, but it's only a concept after all. I quite like the way they've got style of that rough engine block sticking out the front. The girder forks wrapping around the headlamp are ugly, but I commend them for trying something reminiscent of girder forks. The view from the rear is horrid, but overall I think it's an interesting start and good on them for floating the idea. If one came into production, with the looks a bit sorted, the practicality improved and a sensible price, I'd be tempted. In some ways, it doesn't look a million miles away from a Ducati Diavel to my mind (not that I'd want one of those).

Looks fun to me. Not sure why people get upset about these sort of bikes. For the traditionalists there is the 500 uce bikes and now the new twins. RE are no doubt looking for a new customer base from young affluent Indians and other markets and these sort of bikes appeal to them (triumph bobber anyone). Moaning old duffers can move along, plenty of choice out there.

Yeah, Rusty, I think you're spot on. Have you noticed how much the average age of a biker has gone up over the last few decades? When I was a young man, almost all the bikers I knew were young men. No almost everytime I see a biker without a lid, they are either bald or grey. If we don't want to be the last generation of motorcyclists, I think we should really do everything we can to encourage newcomers. I'm not a Harley fan, but I really admire the sheer extent of thought and effort they've put in over the last 5-10 years to understand what's going on and try to open their arms to customers beyond their original fan-boy (boy??? old geezer) base and reach out to young people and women. Ducati similarly with the scrambler. I think whilst RE have a squillion Indian bikers, this is probably sign of them having similar thoughts and R&D. Whether or not you like the concept bike, I think you should support the spirit behind it.

The last time I bought a new bike was in 1984 [VF400F] and I sold that after 18 months because it bored me and went back to my CB500T and T150V Trident. Absolutely NOTHING new has come along in that time which has made me want to part with my hard earned, but plenty of old ones have and when we are all forced to use electric vehicles is when I will walk or use the train / bus. There is nothing out there which appeals to me, especially with all the electronic crap we are forced to endure, just to be politically correct and this R.E. thing is near the bottom of the pile for me. I still have the CB500T and the Trident, though. Make something that looks traditional and it might get my vote, but I think that ship has sailed for me with all that Euro 4,5, 436 etc nonsense.

Just to be clear, Im not against the idea of a new Royal Enfield v-twin, I just don't like this one. And that's what 'concept' bikes are for, to test opinion. The bike as pictured is ugly and impractical but as someone pointed out, the engine looks like an advanced pre-production unit and that would be interesting!

Amazing isn’t it instead of being admired for continuing to ride for as long as we can we are called moaning old duffers and told to move along. Time for a law to protect the elderly!
