Hi Guys

I have Clipper 350 Crankcases taken out 2 drive side bearing. I have below questions.


> can you indian bullet drive side bearing and spacer/seals etc ?

> any other difference.
> already have spare indian bullet clutch. and clutch cover


wanted to used indian parts due to availability and cost

Sometime in the 1970s the Indian factory swapped over from the imperial bearings the Redditch bikes had been using to metric main bearings, so unless you find a very old new-old-stock set, no! Check our hosts' on-line parts books for the replacements, or try your local bearing supplier, imperial will be dearer but you should still be able to get hold of them.

Hi, wheels interchange but qd wheel has bigger spindle on driveside compared to non qd wheel. Also you have the same issue of imperial/metric bearings depending on year.

I had an Indian bullet 500 full width rear hub in my 1953 350 bullet frame and swinging arm. The Indian hub, where it slots into the swinging arm is 2mm wider on the right side (I think from memory) than the left. The Redditch swinging arm is the same on both sides, so all you have to do is open the right side out by 2mm with a dremmel and it will go straight in.

Yes Adrian, sorry if I wasn't very clear. Can't remember if its the driveside or not, but it will become clear when you try to fit the hub in. Its only a 5 minute job to open one of the slots to the required depth.

All of the bearings for Redditch bullets are still available from good bearing suppliers (for the singles at least, Redditch chose common sizes which are still widely used) and as a result good quality ones are cheap. Don't be tempted to save a few pence on cheaper online purchases, the crank is the heart of the engine!

Why would you not buy these bearing from Hitchcocks.
It makes me so cross in what seems to be such an abuse of this forum.
Hitchcocks invest a lot of time, effort and money in sourcing components and developing new to keep Enfields going. They are not a charity and fund all this work through profits from selling bread and butter Enfield products as well as all the other product they develop and sell
Yet at the drop of a hat people are prepared to recommend other suppliers, even boast how much money they save etc.
I know eBay product are cheap and postage can be high but come on .........
Support Hitchcocks as much as you can or else, cheap crap from India may be all there is

Point taken Richard, Enfield Trials is in Ireland which may have an effect on his purchases and he has already said he has a local bearing supplier. The main point I was trying to make is buy quality, not on price.
