Hi All, I am from India. I own a 1958 Royal Enfield bullet 350CC. I have bought it with some 60% originality. Then i have started buying some original spares from Ebay Uk and Hitchcock to restore it to the stock condition. Parts which i have restored are AMAL 376/29 Carb, SR1 magneto with Auto advance. And now i am in need of Flat toolbox which came in 1950 to 1960. There are reproduction one available in my place but i am looking for original one to restore my machine. Anything for sale or any lead will be much helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hello Hercules---------glad to see you have that SR1 Magneto advance/retard unit now........Here is a photo of my "Red Baron" and I would like to fit a flat toolbox within the lower part of the rear carrier.............As this isn't an old machine then one of your reproduction ones might do the trick..... I don't think that Mr. H sells them so can you give me a contact link where I might find one ??................ If Mr. H does do one can someone point me in the right direction ??

Hercules, these seem to be copies rather than originals, though as I suspect they're made in India you would probably be better off sourcing them locally.

Hi Guys------Ah-ha !!.....I dropped a slight boo-boo just then........When he said "Flat" I had in mind a flat, rectangular type such that i could attach it within my rear carrier, hence the photo....But NOT TO WORRY because this thread has reminded me that I still have to fit a Tea Caddy air filter unit which will release the space in the R/H tool box to carry}--------------------- tools ( Now there's a novel idea !!)..Thanks chaps !!

@ Adrian, Yes we have reproduction one available in India for very less price. But, i am badly looking for original one. Thanks for your reply. Will wait for it.

Because, by luck i got one SR1 Auto Advance through this thread. Which is very rare to get in India. But same reproduction one available here but that too doesn't fit properly and has issues.

Hercules, I am not sure what it is you are after, the flat side triangular toolbox was fitted from 1949 to 1955 and then a completely different toolbox was fitted, the one for your 1958 Bullet is illustrated here: http://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/pa ... _Dual_Seat Is this what you mean?

It can be a bit confusing, the production version of the Indian Bullet used the '56-on style of engine (so the SR1 magneto and ATD will fit the classic 350 and later 500 Indian built models) BUT continued with the old style frame while the Redditch models went to the newer frame.



Just to confuse things a little, though, Gordon May's "Made in India" (page 29) shows an early prototype in the Indian factory with the later-style Redditch frame and double-sided 6" front brake, but also fitted with a magdyno which last appeared in 1955 on UK built Bullets...
