Hi all, after fitting a fairing to my b5 2016 which hasnt been used for 3 months found out or rather my son did that the 6mm nut that holds the injector in the head was loose very loose the sleeve on the stud could be spun by hand, nut was 2mm clear of spacer nearly all the seal was exposed. Nut was one with 2 metal locking ears replaced by 6mm nyloc, still ran rough would not idle, pulled plug very very black and sooty new plug fixed all problems. Reckon injector air leak was causing ecu to over compensate for weak mixture.at same time found fuel hose and vent hose fron tank perished fuel ong going sticky, quality rubber. Never been a fan of the eared locknuts found they usually stuffed the thread up, think they have one on the axle nut will swap for a castellated one and fir an R clip.

Ensure the (Brass) injector assembly cap is repositioned correctly after tightening down the nut.
The direction of the injector spray pattern can be moved into one where it's not quite as beneficial.

Hi Scotty, the injector is usually quite a good fit and seal into the inlet manifold, and if the nut has come loose, the injector will often just stay in place and sealed with no adverse effect. On a 2016 model, the ECU can make small adjustments towards the fuelling at low rpm and low throttle openings, but these adjustments still need to work within the preset parameters which are fairly limited and in my view unlikely to be the cause of a problem.
