Just wanted to ask if anyone has had any issues with there voltage regulator and what they may have learned. My battery is good but isn't charging. I think it might be the voltage regulator. I am riding a 2010 classic 500.

First check for crappy connections, then with voltmeter check as in recent posts with similar problems

I was also curious to know if anyone was aware of a voltage regulator that was suitable for the enfield other then an enfield product?

There a various non-RE reg/rectifier units that will do the job, you will need a three-phase version. These range from the Boyer Power Box in three phase as sold by our hosts, any number of generic reg/rectifiers, try REx's Speed Shop, Al Osborn, Paul Goff, etc. Someone on the US forum also successfully tried a Chinese replacement Suzuki item which was almost cheap enough to be regarded as a consumable item.

They are all much of a muchness, they almost universally have electronics in them made by the shindengen electric company. The mosfet type ones are much less likely to fail. They are fitted to an increasing number of Japanese bikes but you can buy new ones too. The older Zennor type have a manufacturers (as in manufacturer of the reg/rec unit, not the bike itself) part number starting SH. The mosfet ones have a part number starting FH.



There are guys on ebay knocking out brand new FH020 reg/rec units for under £30 complete with a connector kit. That seems unbelievably cheap, I think there's a high risk of them being Chinese knock-offs mind. Shop with care.

I agree with Beezabryan. There is a fair bit of wiring between the alternator and the rec/reg plus the rec/reg to the battery. It could be a corroded connector. Check that you have AC power into the rec/reg and DC power coming out before you change it.
