Hi, has anyone a solution for petrol tank vibration on a 2016 Classic C5. There are no front mounting bolts and the front attachment appears to be by large rubber fittings on the frame, onto which the clips on the tank(underneath and towards the front) are pushed. In all gears when about 3000 revs are achieved, the vibration starts and continues with more revs and it is a bit noisy.

Not hearing any noise from the vibes, it is rubber mounted, very hard rubber though!
Mines only a concern when the tank is full, must be something to do with vibes frequency and the weight of the tank??
Stick your finger in the gap between the front of the tank and the top frame tube while your riding along.
You can feel how much the tank is moving compared to the frame. This is at its worst from 60mph upwards.
Once I am down to a couple of gallons there is hardly any vibes at any speed.
Think it was this that caused my first tank to leak?

Hi Guys !!---------This method of tank mounting is pretty much the norm these days I would have thought ??......certainly my old 1965 Honda had it as have other modern makes that I have owned down the years.............Having said that all 4 of my Bullets in the last 10 years have had a bolt through the front, but even they went through a rubber covered steel bush....

The secret is not to bolt it up tight but to let the tank "Float" on a 3-point mounting system ie}---- the rear mounting needs to match the front 2 in terms of resilience........Firm with a slight amount of give but not floppy..( We don't want Mr. Floppy, do we ?? LoL..)...Sounds to me as if your front mounting bushes are too firm ( or solid maybe ?? )...See if you can source some that have a bit more give in them...

Hi, Thanks for the info. The vibration is around 3000rpm; i.e. at 30, 38, 45mph in 3rd., 4th., and 5th. assuming I have the right wheel circumference of 72.3.inches. I don't need to feel the tank as I can see the vibration.

Just wondering if you could make some bespoke anti rattle devices from Armaflex..

Available from builders/plumbing merchants, sort of black nitrile rubber we use for pipe lagging where the cheap foam stuff is not up to the job spec..
