I have tried to fit an Indian bullet seat onto A Constellation, it didn't fit. The base was too long and the front part would not fit into the space between the tank and mudguard.

Someone got an Indian Bullet seat onto this 1959 bike, though with Rasp's comments in mind I see there isn't a lot of rear mudguard to conflict with!

No, the Redditch pattern which tucks inside the frame looks a lot neater, IMHO.

Thanks chaps. Mine definately steps down by more than 1 1/2 inches or so.

I guess 60 years of fat bums on it might have had an effect, or maybe the new pattern ones are just slightly different.

Time to save up

If you can source a replacement cover and the base is in good condition, you could recondition your old one. If you get a big block of high density recon foam, you can cut it to your desired shape using an electric carving knife. Stick it on with spray contact adhesive. You could even cut a recess in it and build in a gel pad.

Thanks all, might try pulling it apart and seeing if I can boost the foam back a back. If not Leightons might be a great alternative to keep the original.

I can highly recommend Leightons. They made and fitted a custom foam and seat cover for a one off base seat I had made. They did a fabulous job at what I thought was a very reasonable price.

I took the base up there and had a tour round the works and was impressed with the set up
