Judging by your comments you should probably fit a better pair of silencers anyway, as they will make the bike more pleasant for you to ride as well as being a bit more neighbour-friendly, if that's an issue. You can then check the effect on your carburation. As a rule more open exhausts need richer jetting, while at the other extreme something like the Electra-X in factory trim was jetted very lean for its intentionally restrictive lean-burn exhaust.

Adrian`s suggestion might be a good idea. Some engines are sensitive to back pressure, too much or not enough, and they run like a hairy goat, 2-strokes in particular are tuned this way. See if you can get a ride on a hairy goat for comparison.

After reading another thread by Betsy I have been advised to buy a new rotor even though the 3 I've tried (old ones) give the same result. After checking them for leakage resistance with a megger (1000 volts) and finding a small leakage current, all of a sudden the bike went well, almost 95%, just a slight miss on low throttle occasionally. I will order a new one from our hosts anyway but it will take a while to get to Oz so I will report back then.
