Lube nylon lined cables with silicone spray. Same stuff you use for PVC window hinges.

It's not unheard of for people to re-purpose the ammeter backlight as a high beam warning light if they want to use a smiths type speedo face.

Is it normal for the Odometer on the Indian made Smith style speedos to read in kilometres instead of miles? I took my Enfield to work today for the first time (about 100 mile round trip) I filled up about 13 miles into the ride at Texaco and the clock said 366 miles and now back from work it says 504 miles so 138 miles instead of about 85. It seems to be correct milage but in kilometers. ;). Incidentally I embarrassingly had to move it around the back as the building manager for the landlord of the little estate of offices where I work happened to come by took offence to the puddles of atf and gear oil on the paving slabs out front! I have put a new sealing washer from our hosts on the gearbox drain plug and tightened it as much as I dare but it still has a constant drip of oil and oil seems to seep from the fibre washer. :(. Also need to have another go at my chaincase will use new 6mm oring material I already have and go to town with the black RTV.
