Maybe I am over reacting it doesnt look that bad in the video could be a bit of wet sumping as well maybe I guess I need to take it for a run and see before I start messing too much. The exhaust smells alot richer now its weird the smoke seemed to come on after i started adjusting the pilot air screw from 1 and a half turns at one point it actually started blowing smoke rings as soon as i turned the screw. ;)

That does not look like black smoke from an over rich mixture, or blue smoke from burning oil, it looks like condensation vapour from hot gasses passing thru cold exhaust, this will stop when exhaust warms up, Have you tried the following to set up your air screw, run engine until hot, set tick over screw at slowest tick over, turn air screw left or right to find where engine runs at fastest tick over, if engine speeds up, reset tick over to slowest it will tick over, re adjust air screw to fastest running, you may have to play with this a few times to get it right, once you have achieved the best running position you can road test and make small adjustments to the air screw to suit, but always remember the best air screw running position.

Thanks I have had the proper wet sumping before when I started up the bike after winter I always leave the piston at tdc to try and prevent it. Hopefully that smoke is just condensation its the coincidence of seeing it when I adjusted the pilot air screw made me think it was rich running. I cant take my bike out this weekend as have friends staying but will have to take it for a run and test.

I did 20 miles around the town yesterday not too far due to weather and the bike is running ok now the carb is rebuilt with no smoke, I also fitted my new smiths replica speedo so can see how many miles I have done which is great. I have ordered a new ampmeter to match the smiths style speedo as my original minda one looks in bad shape. The only thing is the wiring behind the headlamp looks like a bodger has been at it all those cheap crimp connectors that can pull undone and yellow insulating tape everywhere that is going manky. Not even black insulating tape so it looks a bit better also the little bulb for the speedo clock just had the copper braid of the wire twisted around the bottom of it no solder or tape. I really need to sort that and tidy it up with some better solder on connectors.

I have anohter minor problem now, since the rebuild or maybe even before but I didn't really notice I am finding the bottom of the carb is wet with petrol so I think I need a new float valve. I tried tightening the big drain nut on the bottom as thought it might be that but its still leaking a tiny bit.
