Can anyone tell me if part 14552 rear wheel bearings for an Indian bullet 350 2003 are of the sealed variety.Doesnt say on the hosts parts manual so I am assuming they are not.

Think the rear hub and the front one use a 6203 bearing about $9 aust quite a common one usually come with metal seals or rubber ones, I take inboard seal out small screwdriver on both bearings and put a dollop of bearing grease in the middle, rubber seals are ok in hub in brake drum and short axle which is a bigger bearing I use metal seal better at keeping grit out. Wrap your bearings in clingwrap chuck em in the freezer overnight and warm up the hub before fitting hairdryer ok dont get caught only 10 to 15 minutes job. I use a socket to seat the bearings bought the size of bearing outer rim.

There are various types; metal shields usually are non-contact, and are only there to keep the lubricant in the bearing and dust out. Sealed bearings usually are in contact with both edges, are not metal and are more water-proof. That`s a rough description. The lubricant can`t get out, so they are lubricated for the life of the bearing.

I have ordered two sealed bearings.Its a no brainer.Dont want to remove wheels and then the bearings just to grease them.

If you order sealed bearings it is easy to flip a seal out if you find that you actually need open bearings.
