Went out for a test ride this morning... Engine woukdny rev out so dropped the needle jet size down to 107 with mid notch for needle.. Bike pulling much better... Tick over is even now and no spitting back through carb... Set up at the moment is 19 /107(middle)250 main.... On Mk1 Premier Concentric.. 19 is equivalent to a 30 on a standard mk1.. I'm reasonably confident I'm there with the pilot and needle settings... Will report back re the main jet once I've bedded the rings in a bit....

Took ASBO26 for a test run... Engine wouldn't rev out so dropped needle jet size down to 107 middle notch and it was transformed... Set up at the moment is 19 pilot (30) 107middle notch and 250 main.. Fairly sure ilot and needle settings are right now.. Will hold judgement on the main untill I've bedded the rings in a bit..

Tom,

,

, just a thought, did you allow for backlash in the train of timing pinions when you set the static timing? Apparently it can add up to 10° of inaccuracy, which might account for you having to advance the timing against what you thought was already the correct position! On my AVL hybrid with the full set of timing gears (and, coincidentally, a Pazon Sure Fire ignition when it first went on the road) I made sure the contact breaker drive pinion was pushed round anticlockwise just enough to take up the timing gear slack when I set the trigger position. It started and ran fine.

Hi Adrian..

No I didn't but I always intended to dynamically time the ignition anyway but didn't expect to be that much out initially..

Cheers
