I think I need a solution to this seat bottoming out on the rear mudguard as I have just been on the bike for a good 3 hours and it has damaged the paint on the mudguard.

Are much stronger springs available that the standard ones that come with the seat? Other than that have thought about putting a thick pad between the mudguard and seat so it cannot compress all the way down but would want something that doesnt look stupid. Stronger springs would be ideal.

Ahhh ebay do little pillion pads that fix to the mudguard using suction cups it under the seat and it will bottom out on the pad rather than my mud guard. “Motorcycle sest pad suction cup” search brings them up, I can use a more permanant fitting than suction cups if I want and will just stick it in under the seat.

Couple of ideas "spring" to mind.

I personally like the look of torsion springs but I'm not sure if they're any stiffer than most, might look better with that type of seat?

The other thing that occurrs is maybe fit a rubber buffer/stop in the middle of the spring on top of your slightly over long bolts so it bottoms out on them rather than the mudguard. Along the lines of a rubber door stop.

My seat springs (lycette type seat) attach slightly further back than yours on the end of a short steel bracket which attaches to the same place you have yours bolted on. (just a bit of flatbar with two holes in it). The thing I notice is it makes my springs angled slightly more backwards, I'm not sure if this would solve the functional problem but might be a little better aesthetically.

Cheers I went for a ride on Saturday and it felt awful like I was sitting on the rear mudguard the whole time so I put the stock seat back on. Its annoyig as I really like the look of the chief seat. I might swap it back and try again its just if I shift myself back so my legs are more comfortable it bottoms out. Your idea on rubber bungs sounds a good one.

I have swapped it back on. Will have to come up with something and maybe that pad on the musguard will help ;)

Well I have the seat pad, I think it will do the job with a bit of fettling and getting the right position. It supports my weight a lot better than the mudguard as long as it doesn't look too odd, I wouldn't want to ride an odd looking bike people might start thinking I am a bit odd. :)
