I would like to remove the air box contents on my new Efi and use it for storage. I would be grateful if anyone has done this for some pointers on the bits needed and the process involved so I can avoid making any foolish mistakes! Thanks

If it's the same as the earlier EFI bikes (and IMHO it's likely to be the case) you can't do this without remapping the ECU using Power Commander (assuming our host now has a suitable map for Euro IV bikes) or by fitting a carb conversion. I understand that our host now does a conversion kit using a Mikuni carb - that would be my choice having modded my 2015 with the carb conversion and, yes, the additional storage space is one of the advantages. The ECU is mapped to suit the standard, sealed air intake system. Replacing that with a cone type air filter, or similar, may very well cause poor running as the airflow will not meet the expected parameters. Whilst you can get away with changing the exhaust without remapping, the inlet is a different matter. I could be wrong and I'd advise seeking expert advice from someone who knows about Euro IV models. Ring our host.

Emailed our hosts, and they are working on an air filter kit to bolt onto the throttle body/intake side of the head. It can be done with Euro 4 as several have posted on RE GB FB page. The issue is these bikes have ABS and Discs front and rear so space is limited behind the oval cover. The Euro 4 is quite a bit different to the previous EFI. Thanks for your input.

My airbox blew open due to the **** locks they use. The bike was unrideable. 87 mpg at 65 mph to the hardshoulder and back in the time it took to open and close. Why muck about with a working system just to use more fuel, have different unknown leaks and gain a space the size of a margarine tub? Buy a bag for your stuff and put a strap round the box. Of course you could do the full Anal Consumptive conversion then go the whole hog and use the space for the gas generator for the acetylene lights! Andy

I must admit, I did larf! No, I am on a mission to declutter and create room for a pair of waterproofs and a hip flask.
