PS

In partial answer to you more general question concerning electrical tools, I've never trusted crimp connectors and always solder all of my electrical connectors.

So, if you planning on getting into motorcycle electrickery - and Enfield ownership may, occasionally, give you no choice - I'd recommend springing for a decent soldering iron.

There was a time when Weller made decent soldering irons, but that is no longer the case, IMO. These days, I favour Antex. An Antex XS25 won't break the bank.

Hello there, Countjohnny-----nice to see you back on here again !.........Want-a-Weller ?? -----> -----> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Weller-2020- ... em35ce42ac ............ or for that Antex then this}--- https://www.antex.co.uk/soldering/preci ... rons/xs25/

Yes, I also am not a fan of the crimped connector in a hostile envoiroment such as on a bike or car......One word of caution when using a soldered joint and that is to make sure you "kill-off" any remnants of the active flux afterwards ( I use a shot of a spray-oil such as WD40 then remove with compressed air..) and then cover with a spray-applied grease.....It sounds "Fiddley" but is well worth the effort...
