Scotty – good luck with getting your wiring to match any particular diagram - nothing quite matches mine either.

Attached are two such diagrams, both for 1995 bikes, one for UK (from the esteemed Scaleyback) and an Indian one (from the 1995 Workshop manual). My 1996 Bullet wiring agrees locally and varoiously with either so perhaps there’s no difference from 1994.

I have found the biggest culprit for loss of electricity is indeed the ammeter connections. You can push the ammeter upwards out of the casquette (gently) and it should reach a couple of inches above – better to label all wires first. Take care of the so-called seal (a rubber ring like an old bike tube around the ammeter). Judicious twisting of cables on terminals may resolve your issue. Otherwise same for battery connections and ………well anything else too!

Hi guys-------- just a word of caution if I may ??---disconnect the battery earth FIRST, then push the ammeter up....I find that the rubber grommet has usually stuck well and truly to the case of the ammeter so try flooding the circumference with some WD40 whilst at the same time prising a small, flat-bladed electrical screwdriver into the joint....Eventually it will just ease out ...
