Hi all... can anyone tell me the torque value for the nuts securing the gearbox to the gearbox fixing studs. Thanks. regards Jacob

Hi, if you mean the four studs that hold the gearbox to the engine, manual states 15ftlb. Vince

I guess my mind was too preoccupied with the job to reveal the facts. The bike is a 2003 Bullet; the gearbox a 4 speed RH shift. And a picture...

Hi Vince ... thanks, you just replied while I was answering Alan R. Hope he agrees with you... lol. I actually went throu all the different torque value spread sheets I have found in different RE forums and my manual. Guess I just have to look again in the manual... regards Jacob

Hi Guys------- Sorry Vince but I have to disagree with you here, alas.....The answer is}---15LbsFt....Torque is a force ( Lbs ) applied at a right angle to a lever multiplied by the distance ( Ft ) from that lever's centre or pivot point...

Whereas Work Done is a product of the distance ( Ft ) in a straight line that a given force ( Lbs ) is applied.........

My information is that the nuts that secure the gearbox to crankcase are 23 ft/lb. (Hope this is ok with the 'right angle to a lever multiplied by the distance...' etc etc!!!)
