Just to say thanks for all the suggestions regarding my giving up the will to live post
After changing everything in site it started today ist time
I found I had not one but two brand new plugs that were faulty both breaking down also found my inlet valve sticking so stripped the head down refitted and bingo it goes now just to get it to tick over and then out on the road to see if I put the gearbox back together correctly

Glad your sorted.As a matter of interest those plugs were they new and purchased of a well known website.Not Hitchcock's of course.

Mind you. NGK plugs were running an astronomical failure rate a few years back. Worse than 1 in 10. That was before the rise of online retailing too. I think they are much better now mind but finding two, brand new duff ones doesn't entirely surprise me.



At one point, they were failing en masse when run in peaky 2-strokes. As I recall they dodged the issue by issuing a notice stating their plugs weren't intended for use in 2-strokes. I changed to Nippon Denso for quite a long time but I'm lazy and looking up the part number cross-matching is a pain. I still think ND are better plugs.

I was thinking more along the lines of fake or now known as replica plugs.Its good to know about they faulty NGK batches.

Hi Guys----and a big "THANK YOU" to you H for coming back and keeping us all in "the loop"....It can be quite disheartening at times when a person comes on here with a problem---we give our advice freely and for 'nowt ---- then never get any feedback as to their results etc.......Like a lot of my fellow forum members I've been involved with Engineering Diagnostics in one form or another for some time now and "Test by substitution" can be one of the quickest means of checking an item-- usually with a known OK item OR a brand new one..........The biggest enemy of diagnostics is usually assumption.........I bet by the time you fitted that 3rd plug your knowledge of Anglo Saxon expletives was getting quite good ??--LoL .........................Well done matey !!!!

The plugs were purchased from a well known motor factors on the high street.
Yea it's nice to have help and keep sane
If I get it up and running this year I will post a picture of it along with a very happy man

Although made in Mexico, and not assembled straight after siesta while the assembler is still groggy; I found Champion spark plugs excellent.

Yes, me too----------back in the 1970's I used them in my 250---350----and 500 Grass Track bikes with all 3 running on Methanol with approx 12:1 CR ..

Nippon Denso have equivalents for the NGK B8ES (W24ES-U) as well as their own Irirdum plugs, I can't remember the number at the moment. Otherwise N3C Champion for a pepped-up 500 or N4C for a 500 in touring trim. EFI 500s may be different again. One of our friends on the US forum is running a tuned 500 AVL Classic with a Champion N2C, which made him a very happy man after he ditched his reluctant-starting NGK plug.



Sorry I don't have the equivalent numbers for the short reach plug in the 350 Bullet, a quick internet search should get the answer.
