Stinkwheel try modifying a bike that is newer that the latest regulation and it will not be compliant.

That will make it not fit for use on the roads.

i didn't investigate the ABS but my first impression was that the ABS unit was located under the swing arm pivot, will double check tomorrow though. If you follow the image URL (don't fancy risking a third failure) you will have a better idea of the device. And as far as legality goes... I'm in Jersey with no MOT or equivalent, I doubt this kind of modification will cause me any problems

Hi Stinkwheel-------I forgot to answer your question re}---a limping Bullet....Answer is--> Much the same as any other Bullet I would imagine ( LoL )...Mine limps along at 50 - 55 mph all the time......

About that "Legality" thing from papasmurf, I suggest you all take a read of this, including the part that will require bikes to have a "Self diagnostic capability" for the best part of its' lifetime""................. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/201 ... lly-means/ ........... ps}--- Yes, that IS a vapour capture cannister ...

I think you're confusing regulations/compliance testing for the design and manufacture of a new motorcycle by a company in order to get type approval for its sale and roadworthiness of a privately owned machine.

I hesitate to labour the point but it's fairly important, since most people using this forum DO have bikes which deviate significantly from standard (does anyone actually still have a PAV on a later pre-unit bullet?) and a huge part of our hosts business is selling parts which enable people to do so. Many/most of these deviations would not be compliant with the emissions regulations for when they were built. Like where I have replaced the breather catch can with a hose that vents directly to atmosphere.

Once again, I'm not aware of any laws which prevent me modifying my motorcycle by removing emissions control componants, tinkering with the fuel delivery system and modifying the exhaust nor am I aware of any legal provision for the testing of emissions of a privately owned motorcycle like is the case with cars and vans.

So, again, what law would make a privately owned motorcycle not fit for use on the roads because it had been meddled with to the point it no longer complied with Euro 4 emissions regs? The Germans have such laws (even down to mandating OEM tyre fitments), we, as far as I'm aware, do not.

-----and bearing in mind that the world's (Biking) population is exponentially expanding year-on-year how long will it be before even the rider him/herself has to take "Vapour" filtering action ??.....especially after 4 pints of Largerlout along with pork pie, pickled onions followed by a double portion of good old Vindeloo ??----------------- I'm ahead of the game for once-> ---------> ---------> https://www.stressnomore.co.uk/shreddie ... 10625.html
